Price for the eDrive35 version of the BMW i4, the model’s entry-level powertrain, for Spain
BMW continues to expand its all-electric range, now with the new eDrive35 version of the BMW i4 electric saloon. This is the entry-level version of the model, which also features the eDrive40 and M50 variants. The BMW i4 eDrive35 is therefore the model’s least powerful option, but also the most affordable.
The BMW i4 eDrive35 is equipped with a rear electric motor that develops an output of 210 kW (286 hp) and 400 Nm. Its battery, which is smaller than in the other versions, provides a range of up to 483 kilometres. Average fuel consumption is set at 15.8-18.7 kWh/100 km.
When it was announced that this new version would arrive, everything seemed to indicate that it wanted to compete with the Tesla Model 3; its direct rival. But, right now, after the big price drops of both the Model 3 and Model Y in Spain, it may not be able to do anything to start that competition.
The brand has announced that the new BMW i4 eDrive35 version will be launched in Spain with a starting price of 57,100 euros, which is almost 11,000 euros more than what the Tesla Model 3 currently costs (from 46,200 euros). Furthermore, based on the announced price, this eDrive35 version would not be eligible for the MOVES III Plan either.
The new BMW i4 eDrive35 will go into production in November at the Group’s German plant in Munich. The brand says: “With this new model, the share of fully electric cars will reach 50% of the total production volume by 2023”.
