CATL and VinFast sign agreement to collaborate on CIIC skateboard chassis

CATL’s CIIC skateboard chassis integrates battery packs, electric motors and other critical units in one layer

CATL and VinFast have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for strategic cooperation on a global level, with the goal of expanding collaboration in several areas, including collaboration on the CATL Integrated Intelligent Chassis (CIIC) skateboard chassis.

According to the agreement, CATL and VinFast intend to explore various forms of cooperation on the CIIC skateboard chassis, in addition to the current cooperation between the two related to the supply of CTP (cell-to-pack) batteries.

The current battery agreement is expected to provide VinFast’s electric vehicles with long range figures. CATL has also said it is willing to cooperate with VinFast in other areas related to the transition to electric mobility. VinFast is already present in Europe, although it will not have a shop in Spain for the time being.

The CIIC skateboard chassis integrates the battery packs, electric motors and other critical units in a single layer at the bottom of the vehicle, reducing purchase cost and energy consumption while maximising cabin space.
