Now that the month of December 2022 has ended and 2022 has come to an end, it is time to take a look at the global data on electric car sales in Spain and their evolution over the months.
One more month thanks to Twitter user @ValdesL2 who has provided us with the actual sales data in Spain, which we will now give you in detail.
The first fact to take into account is that we can already say that in 2022 there has been a greater interest in electric vehicles in Spain, with a growth of 31% compared to the figures for 2021, data that can be considered positive but which is certainly below what we had predicted and thought.
In total, 31,534 100% electric vehicles were sold in 2022 compared to 24,139 units sold in 2021, i.e. almost 7,400 more electric cars.
Electric car sales in December 2022
But before analysing and providing you with the global data for 2022, let’s take a quick look at the sales of electric cars in Spain in December 2022, where Tesla once again took the top two positions with its two star vehicles, the Tesla Model 3 and the Tesla Model Y, followed by the Fiat 500e, an electric car that can be considered a sales success in Spain in terms of the option of making the leap to electric cars.

As can be seen, Tesla continues to firmly dominate the electric car market in Spain during the month of December, with only the Fiat 500e and Volvo XC40 able to follow in the wake of the American brand’s models.
Electric car sales in Spain in 2022
In the overall computation of the year 2022, Tesla has completely swept the competition in Spain, and is that both the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y have managed to place in the TOP 3 best-selling cars in Spain during 2022, a sign of the strength that has the brand in Spain being the favorite choice for the purchase of an electric car.
The FIAT 500e has also proved to be a great option, and has managed to sneak in between the two Tesla cars, placing second, although the Tesla Model Y has been just 3 units away from surpassing the overall sales in Spain of FIAT’s electric utility car.

As expected and seeing the results month after month, the accumulated sales by brand the absolute winner has been Tesla, which almost doubles the number of sales to KIA, the second brand that has sold more cars in Spain in 2022.
In third position we find Hyundai, being the American brand and the Korean brands the absolute leaders in electric car sales in 2022 in Spain.
