MG Air EV could be the cheapest electric car ever

MG goes all out with its economical electric cars

All or nothing, this phrase could perfectly describe the strategy that MG has adopted in this new electric era. Under the tutelage of the Chinese group SAIC, the brand has returned stronger than ever.

MG’s formula is to offer electric vehicles at very competitive prices (compared to the competition) and with performance and range that are second to none.

The best case in point is the MG4, an electric car that has undoubtedly been one of the stars of 2022 and is proving to be a sales success.

MG, as we have already mentioned, currently belongs to the Chinese automotive group SAIC, which knows the local market very well, a market, the Chinese market, which is increasingly more accepting of electric vehicles and which, through MG, they want to replicate in Europe and other countries.

This is the case of the successful Chinese low-cost electric car Wuling HongHaun Mini, a small electric car of very contained dimensions that make it ideal for moving around the city electrically and also at a truly groundbreaking price.

MG will bring this model to the international market but under its own brand and the marketing name will be MG Air EV. As MG has indicated, this new vehicle will initially be presented for the Indian market and will later address other markets.

What the MG Air EV looks like

Although we will probably still have to wait a while before we can buy the MG Air EV in Spain, we think it is interesting to know more details about this vehicle, which could become a real sales success.

It is a small, urban car, with a length of just 2.97 metres. Despite its small size, it can accommodate up to four passengers.

The MG Air EV battery has a capacity of 28 kWh and is lithium-ferrophosphate, offering a range of between 200 and 300 kilometres, a range that as you can see will be more than enough for everyday use.

As for the power of the MG Air EV, the brand will offer two options, one of 30 kW (40 hp) and another option of 50 kW (68 hp), a more than enough power for the purpose of the car.

The price of the MG Air EV has not yet been revealed, it is expected to be announced for India in January, but it is estimated to be around 11,000 euros, which would make it one of the cheapest electric cars on the market.
