Is Porsche preparing a future all-electric Porsche 718 Boxster?
The success of Porsche’s first pure electric car, the Taycan, has led the German sports brand to continue its commitment to the electrification of its models.
We already know that the next-generation Porsche Macan will be 100% electric and there have even been rumours for some time of a pure electric car based on its entry-level models, the so-called Porsche 718, which comprises the Cayman and Boxster.
These models are an interesting option for those who want to have a Porsche but do not want to spend a huge amount of money, since as we said, they are entry-level vehicles that cost around 69,000 euros in Spain.
Everything suggests that in the renewal of the model, which is expected to take place in 2025, the German brand will dare to offer at least a 100% electric option within the Porsche 718 range.
This possibility is now more real than ever, as a very special Porsche 718 Boxster has been spotted on the road, as instead of a petrol engine, it is equipped with a fully electric powertrain, as can be seen in the video below where you can hear the characteristic hum of electric motors.
Some of you are probably wondering if it has an exhaust pipe, and indeed it does, but in the automotive sector it is very common to test vehicles, in this case powertrains, with a chassis and structure of existing vehicles.
This is mainly for two reasons, one is to save costs in testing and the other is to make the vehicles more inconspicuous.
Considering that this possible future electric Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster will be launched on the market in 2025, it seems logical and normal that Porsche is already in this initial testing phase.
