Rivian R1T shows its electric power towing a 17-tonne truck

The power of electric cars is a feature that sets them apart from combustion cars, especially as they are able to deliver all that power immediately and do not need to be revved to get that maximum.

This is allowing most electric cars to be more powerful than their combustion counterparts, not counting obviously those versions of electric cars that offer really raw power such as the Tesla Model S Plaid with 1,020 hp or the Porsche Taycan that exceeds 700 hp, and these are just a few examples.

But today we want to talk about how the power of an electric car, specifically a Rivian R1T, has been used to rescue a truck that had been involved in an accident, a truck weighing more than 17 tonnes.

The Rivian R1T shown in the video is the four electric motor version and generates 850 hp and an astonishing 1,200 Nm of torque.

The Rivian brand certifies that the R1T is capable of towing up to 5,000 kg, although this is the official figure, as you can see in the video below, the R1T can tow a 17-tonne truck without too much trouble. It should also be taken into account that the location of the truck means that pulling it out of the ground is a major complication.

Here you can see an extract of the rescue.
